Sri Lanka
I am a general physician with a special interest in social issues and public policy. Currently I am on sabbatical leave from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, where I work as a professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine. My interest in rural medicine stems from the fact that a majority of Sri Lankans (and inhabitants in the globe) live in rural areas. Therefore there is a need to modify or develop fresh models of care, rather than copy from the models of practice developed in urban centres of the developed countries.
