Donald C. Cole is an occupational, environmental, and public health physician, with a masters’ in health research methods, and post-doctoral studies in ecosystem approaches to health. During over thirty-five years of practice (clinical and population-related), research and policy work in Canada and lower and middle-income countries, he has led multi-stakeholder action research processes to change socio-ecological conditions to improve physical and mental health. He has co-led applied research on pesticides, urban agriculture, food systems and nutrition in South America, East Africa and Ontario. In addition to retired professor duties, he works part-time as a clinician and part-time at Fairfields, the family farm.
