Dr Janani Pinidiyapathirage

position: Senior Research Fellow

I graduated as a medical doctor in 1999 and completed my MD in Community Medicine in 2007 from the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo and a PhD in Public Health and Community Medicine from the University of New South Wales, Sydney in 2015. In 2011, after a 10 year tenure in the capacity of Lecture/Senior Lecturer at the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, I joined the research cadre at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia as a postdoctoral research fellow in 2014. In 2018, I joined the Queensland Rural Medical Education (QRME) as a senior research fellow. My primary research interests focus on prevention and management of chronic disease, especially diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In addition, I have interests in rural health including farmer health and safety, and physical activity and nutrition research.
